Games & Rules

  • What games are there at the Palace of Cards?

Palace of Cards currently offers nine online card games that can be divided into three categories:

    1. Trick taking games
    2. Shedding games
    3. Patience games
  • How can I play at the Palace of Cards?

To play one of our games, all you need is a stable internet connection and a device. You can then start playing for free anytime!

As far as devices are concerned, we are flexible. Smartphone, tablet, laptop, desktop PC—any one will do. This is because all games can be played across platforms.

By the way, your profile can only be in one online game at any time. This means that you cannot switch between two games in two different browser tabs, for example. As soon as you enter the second game, you will automatically leave the first one.

Further info can be found here.

  • How many players can I play with?

That differs from game to game. Here is a list of the current possible number of players for all Palace games!

Game Possible number of players in Palace of Cards

  • Where can I find the game rules?

You can open the Help in each game while playing. To access it, simply click on the question mark at the top of the screen in the game.

We have also written detailed instructions in the School on the respective game pages, and in some cases also lessons or compact rules.

Simply click on the game you would like to learn more about to view the instructions:

  • What are custom rules and when do they apply?

In Palace of Cards, Premium players can create tables with exciting custom rules where everyone can play.

    • Of course, the custom rules differ from game to game. To see which custom rules are available, you can refer to the game help or visit the respective website with the game rules.
    • The only custom rule that exists in all games is called Training. Tables with this rule are not reflected in the League.

You can see whether custom rules apply at a table by looking at the symbols in the table list.

At any time during a game, you can also click on the i or Table info at the top of the screen for a list of custom rules.

  • In the Game

  • What does Quick Play mean?

Quick Play means that you are automatically seated at a table with other players.

This is done by looking for tables that fit your settings. Where possible, suitable opponents—with a similar rating and experience—are taken into consideration, too.

You can find your Quick Play Settings in your Game Preferences.

Click here for further info on this topic.

  • What does it mean when “FREE” suddenly appears as another player?

When the word “FREE” appears at a seat at your current table, the player who was just occupying that seat has left the game.

This can happen if, for example, there is a problem with the player’s internet connection. The player has two minutes to return to the table, and in the meantime is represented by the FREE player—an AI.

Further info about this can be found here.

  • How do I choose a table myself?

To do this, click on the table you like the best in the table list, and wait a moment until there are enough players sitting at the table.

On desktop devices, the table list is your starting area.

On mobile devices, you’ll see the Tables button. You can click on it to view the table list and choose a suitable table.

  • What is the Lobby?

Basically, the Lobby gives you access to the League, the Competition area, and your settings at all times.

There are a few differences in the appearance of the Lobby on mobile devices and desktop devices. You can find out about this and more on our info page on the topic.

  • What do the numbers and symbols on the table list mean?

Each row of the table list describes one table. If a row has a lighter background, you are able to join it. Generally, these tables can be found at the very top of the table list.

On the far left of the row, you can see the number of rounds, and to the right of that is the number of players.

After that, there are the profile pictures of the players who want to play at this table or some text if there is no one else sat at this table.

On the right, there may be symbols for prerequisites and playing conditions for the table. Click here to find out more.

  • How can I create a table?

In all games, you can create a public table without custom rules and with chips bet and a jackpot.

    • To do this on desktop devices, click on Create table in the bottom left of the Lobby.
    • On mobile devices, you’ll find this button by clicking on Tables in the start menu at the bottom of the screen.

With a Premium Membership, you can include even more conditions and rules when creating a table. Read more on this subject here.

  • What happens if I leave a table while a game is in progress?

If you leave a table before the game is over, your loyalty and points in the League will be deducted, and you will be blocked for a short time. If there was a chips bet, your share will remain on the table so that players who play until the end are not disadvantaged.

As internet connection issues can occur from time to time, we give you two minutes to return to a table with a chips bet as long as the game is still in progress.

At tables with no chips bet, another player will automatically move up to take your place.

  • What is a Reset?

If you buy a reset in the game shop, your current standing in one of the league categories is automatically reset to zero. This cannot be undone!

You can get resets in most games for the following categories:

    • score in the current quarter league
    • Chips score in the current month’s Chips league
    • star rating
    • verage score over the last 50 rounds (friends list)
    • all four categories at once

You can find more details on our league info page.

  • Your Profile at the Palace

  • What is my profile or account?

You are visible in the game with your profile.

A verified player profile or game account in Palace of Cards is linked to an e-mail address and protected with a password.

On mobile devices, you can also use our apps without creating an account, i.e. without adding an e-mail address or password. In this case, you can perform verification later on.

You can determine how you use the game and your appearance in the game in your account and profile settings.

Here, you can access the info pages about your profile and your game account with detailed information.

  • How do I verify my profile?

When creating a new profile, you can specify an e-mail address. We will then send a verification e-mail to this address. In this e-mail, you can click on a link to verify your profile, after which your successes as a player will be permanently backed up.

Because this e-mail sometimes gets lost, you can request it from within your profile in the game. To do so, click on My Profile or on your avatar and scroll to Personal Data. You will only see the Secure button if your profile has not yet been verified.

Further info about this can be found here.

  • What is my Player ID and where can I find it?

Each profile has a unique Player ID. Because it uniquely identifies you, you must never post it publiclysuch as in Facebook comments or in a blog post.

You will find your Player ID in the bottom half of your profile under Personal Data. Only share it with our customer service in private messages.

Further info can be found here.

  • What should I do if forget my password?

You will find the Forgot password option in the bottom right of the login window. Click on that. If you entered your e-mail address correctly during registration/verification, you will now receive a new password via e-mail.

If you do not receive an e-mail, contact our customer service at support@palace-of-cards.com, if possible with your Player ID.

  • How do I change my profile picture?

To edit your profile picture, click on it. In the menu that opens, you may now have various options: You can upload a (new) picture, and change the shape and frame of your avatar, if you have already unlocked these options.

Profile pictures must comply with our Terms and Conditions, which will be displayed once again before you upload a file.

After uploading a new profile picture, you will have to wait 48 hours before you can upload another picture.

Further info about this can be found here.

  • How do I add players to my friends list?

All players you add as a friend will be added to the friends list for the respective game. You can do this by viewing a profile and clicking on Friend.

You can find your friends list by going to the League in the Lobby, and then selecting the relevant option in the bottom left.

    You’ll find more details here.

  • What is the ignore list?

All players you have clicked to ignore are added to your ignore list. Now, they can no longer chat with you.

You can find your ignore list by going to the League in the Lobby, and then selecting the relevant option in the bottom left.

    You’ll find more details here.

  • How can I delete my account?

On desktop devices: Find Data Privacy in white font in the lobby. Click it, select Delete Data in the popup, and then confirm.

On mobile devices: Viewing the main menu find Data Privacy in white font, tap it, and select it in the popup. Next, select Delete Data and then confirm.

Your account will be flagged for deletion across all our games and irrevocably deleted after 14 days. But if you log in with this account during that time, the flag is removed, and your account will not be deleted.

For more information, see our full Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

  • Premium Membership

  • What does Premium mean?

By purchasing an optional Premium Membership, you can support the Palace of Cards. Of course, you receive something in return: Premium Membership comes with some additional features, which you can read more about here.

However, a Premium Membership is not necessary to enjoy the game. As a rule, all our games are free of charge! You can play every game with all the rules, join the League, Clubs and Tournaments, and gain experience.

In the game, you can recognize Premium members by the small crown on their profile picture.

  • How do I get Premium?

You can purchase a Premium Membership separately for each game. This can be done via a purchase or by redeeming Chips.

You can find more details about Premium Membership on our info page.

  • The Leveling System

  • What’s the difference between this and the League?

The Leveling system in all Palace games consists of experience points and levels, and is a continuous process.

Detailed information can be found on the relevant info page.

This system is independent of the League, which takes into account the points and Chips you earn during certain periods as well as your rating.

  • How do I level up?

Once you reach a certain number of experience points, you will advance to the next level.

These experience points are awarded entirely automatically for each table you finish playing. This means that the more you play, the faster your experience points increase, along with your level.

  • Is there a final level?

The experience system has 100 levels. If you have reached 100: Welcome to the top!

Of course, you continue collecting experience points in the background.

In most Palace games, you will now see the experience bar at the end of a table or in your profile displaying your growing number of experience points on level 100.

In Pinochle, Whist, and Gin Rummy, you do not see the growing number of experience points, but instead, a celebrative “MAX.” to recognize that you reached the maximum level. At the end of a table, you will still see how many experience points you gained there.

  • The League System

  • What is the League system?

The League system in Palace of Cards currently consists of four categories. It determines the following:

    • The best player of the day by number of points earned
    • The monthly winner by number of Chips earned
    • The champion of the quarter by number of points earned
    • And the rating according to TrueSkill

Further information can be found on the relevant info page.

Good to know: Leveling is not part of the League! Hence, if you would like to know more about levels and experience points, please click here.

  • How can I view my rank in the League system?

Access the League via the Lobby or via your profile by clicking on the League button.

You can then select the category you are interested in on the left, and then click on My Position at the bottom of the window.

You’ll find more details about this here.

  • How do I move up the League?

You will automatically participate in the League as long as you are not playing on training tables.

This means all your points, the Chips you win, and rating changes are reflected in the current League period. Basically, all you have to do is play successfully to climb the League bit by bit.

But remember: If the Training custom rule is activated, this table operates outside of the League.

All information regarding League categories can be found here.

  • How do I get rating stars?

Your rating of 1 to 5 stars increases continuously by winning games, as winning games increases your rating points. The stronger your opponents are, the greater the increase in your rating points.

Once your rating points reach certain thresholds, your rating will increase and you will receive another one of five stars—or you might have one deducted.

Your wins and losses will have no effect on your rating if you play with the Training custom rule!

For more detailed information about rating points and stars, visit our info page on the topic.

  • Tournaments at the Palace

  • What are tournaments and in which games can I participate in them?

For a Chips bet, tournaments allow you to compete in a special competitive atmosphere. This applies to all nine Palace games.

To participate, all you have to do is register in the Competition area of your game and then join the tournament before it starts.

The winner will also receive plenty of Chips from the pot! Exactly how much you win depends on the tournament.

You’ll find further info on this topic here.

  • What tournaments are there at Palace of Cards?

We offer daily list tournaments in all of our games. Tournament rule sets vary from game to game, of course.

Additionally, there are occasional official Palace of Cards tournaments that take place in all nine games simultaneously. The basic rules of the respective game always apply.

Continue reading here for further details.

  • Are there conditions of participation?

To take part in a tournament, you must have sufficient Chips for the bet. Otherwise, there are no conditions.

It is always a good idea to pay attention to the duration and size of the tournament so you don’t have to leave it early.

  • What is the rulebook for tournaments?

We play according to the Danish system. Once they have been determined, those who are in 1st to 3rd place get their share of the jackpot.

Further info can be found on our tournaments info page.

  • Clubs at Palace of Cards

  • What are clubs?

You can connect with like-minded players in clubs! Club members can interact around the clock for free in the club chat.

Clubs are therefore a great way to meet up with friends and colleagues, start a local game group, rally ambitious competitive players, and much more. Clubs also have the options of the Club League and the internal list.

You’ll find everything you need to know on our info page on clubs.

  • What is the Club League?

In the Club League, the Club with the most points earned in each period is crowned every three months.

To participate, your Club needs a League ticket for the current season. This costs 25 Chips per member seat.

Each Club Champion will be immortalized in the Hall of Fame of the respective Palace.

More details can be found here.

  • What is the internal list?

If your Club has a League ticket, an internal list is automatically maintained at the same time. Only games played at internal club tables are included in it, creating a rankings list of your Club members.

Each internal champion will be immortalized in the Club League of the respective Palace of the respective club every three months.

Further details can be found here.

  • What are internal club tables?

If you create a table in the Lobby as a club member, you can not only choose between public and private tables, but will also be offered a third option: My club or Club only.

Only members of the same club are able to play at internal club tables. The points from such tables only count toward your internal list, and not toward the Club League. Of course, you also keep scoring for your personal game statistics. Click here for more information.

  • Bonuses & Vouchers at the Palace

  • What are bonuses?

There are several types of bonuses—daily and special—in our games.

You will receive a Chips bonus for each day you play the game. This increases when you play several days in a row.

Occasionally, we also publish free links that can be used for a short time to get one-time special bonuses. All the important details can be found on the relevant info page.

  • How do I use the free links on a mobile device?

Simply click on the link. Depending on your settings and the Palace apps you have installed, the relevant game app or a mobile browser will open where you can log in.

If you encounter any problems, you can try to open the game as usual and then enter the code from the link. Further info can be found here.

  • How can I use a code instead of a free link?

If we share free links on our Facebook pages, we will include the relevant code with them. This is because when you copy links from Facebook, additional information is added to them, making the code difficult to identify.

Usually, a free link looks something like this:

The last string of characters (here: viele-zeich) makes up the code that you can also enter in the game. You can find details about this on our info page on the topic.

  • Can I redeem a code and a free link?

Each bonus can only be activated once, unless we explicitly express otherwise.

This means that if you have already received a bonus via a free link, you cannot also enter the corresponding code in the game, and vice-versa.

You can, however, collect each bonus in the manner you see fit and don’t always have to stick to either free links or codes.

  • Why can’t I use codes with Apple devices?

Apple does not allow apps with free vouchers. Thus, we are unable to offer you a version to enter a bonus code for Apple devices.

In order to use this function, you can sign in with your login details on another device. But don’t forget to log out again, otherwise someone else might have access to your game account!
