Dear friends of the Palace, and especially dear Doppelkopf Fans,
We heard your wishes: Our popular classic Doppelkopf gets additional terrific rule options! We decided to include two further, popular variants as custom rules, giving you even more ways to tailor the game to your taste. Below, you can find an overview of all the important information!

Here’s what the custom rule selection will look like soon: The new rules Superpiglets and Defused Dulles are highlighted in this image.
Defused Dulles – King of Diamonds Takes the Throne!
Here, the Kings of Diamonds displace the Dulles (Tens of Hearts) and take their place as the strongest trumps in the game. As a result, the Tens of Hearts slide in between the Ace and King of Hearts, becoming non-trump cards in most cases. Only in a Hearts Solo do the Tens of Hearts become trump cards again.
Instead of solely defusing the Dulles, combinations with all other custom rules are possible, too. Just remember that the Kings of Diamonds now act as the Dulles!
Here are a couple of examples:
- When adding Second Dulle beats first, the second King of Diamonds now beats the first one, and nothing out of the ordinary happens regarding the Tens of Hearts.
- As the Kings of Diamonds are trump cards now, they now longer count towards the blank cards (wimps) when combining this custom rule with Sharp Doko and 5 wimps slap down.
- Combining Defused Dulles with Piglets results in the Piglets being the highest trump cards in the game, followed by the Kings of Diamonds and then all other trump cards of the current game type. Meanwhile, the Tens of Hearts are simple non-trump cards between Ace and King of Hearts.
A Bird? A Plane? No, Superpiglets!
Many of you are probably already familiar with the Piglets, from the Doppelkopf Palace, for example. The Superpiglets are going one better!
You have both Nines of Diamonds in your hand? With this custom rule, that’s a reason to laugh up your sleeve: These two cards now become the mighty Superpiglets, rising above even the Dulles to become the game’s ultimate trump cards!
You don’t need to announce this as a special. If no solo is being played, the rule takes effect automatically. But there’s an exciting difference compared to the Piglets: The Superpiglets remain your little secret until you play the first Superpiglet! That means you can catch your opponents off guard and unexpectedly delight your teammate.
The Superpiglets and Piglets don’t depend on each another, by the way: You can play with these custom rules separately or at the same time, as you please. Should you decide to activate them at the same time, the game’s highest trumps are the Superpiglets, followed by the Piglets, then the Dulles and the usual trump order of the current game type.
You can combine Superpiglets with most custom rules at the Doppelkopf Palace. Only Sharp Doko has no room for them, as it excludes any Nines.
The Update
As you can see, the rule adjustments potentially affect the whole Doppelkopf game. For the game to run reliably, and to ensure all players get to play under the same conditions and by the same rules, the update must be carried out for all players.
In case you are playing Doppelkopf as a desktop app or mobile app, and you don’t have automatic updates enabled, you might soon get a notification informing you that you need to install an update for the Doppelkopf app in order to keep on playing.
When that moment comes, you know what’s up: The new custom rules for Doppelkopf are here! Time to try them out immediately!
Have fun and a good hand!
Your Palace Team
